On Monday 4th Oct 2004 we took the
train to ChiPeng
hotsprings on the Eastern Side of Taiwan. The last
time I wrote of that place I spend only a very short
time there. We spend 3 days this time in ChiPeng
returning to Chiayi on Wed evening just a few hours
Tinkerbell was stuffed into her carrier cage and
bundled into a big black bag to get her into the
train. We talked to let Tink we are around and
inserted a finger every now and then for the 4 hours
train ride. Reaching Chipeng town, Tink was
liberated. I rented a bike, wrap a length of rope
around the rearview mirrors, load up and set down
This time, it was painful sweet. Our last long trip
together on this journey we started about 3 years ago.
On the 14 Oct, Joy and I will have to fly off as our
visas expired. On the 11 Oct, the movers will come
for all household goods to pack them off and we moved
into hotel. On the 10 Oct, Yu and family will be
taking Tink and her associated belongings to their
home. To ease the transition, we will make daily
visits to see Tink from 10 to 13 Oct.
Yet this trip was sweet too. We were still together
to enjoy ourselves in a place more beautiful than I
may have you believed in my last email.
Riding out of town to the hotspring area, you first
will pass by touts hawking rooms. We passed by the
garish hotels barely pausing just to take a few shots.
Then we were deeper inside where it was closer to
when I first saw her 14 years back.
There was this beautiful park that you reached by
crossing over the red bridge. Tink's recalls to me
more hair rising as her flight skills improved and she
showed me more ways to scare me more. On long flights
to me, she would weave a curve to me, she overfly
to soar upwards before diving down, Most
unfortunately, the camera memory ran out on those
sequencial shots. You will see one such sequence as
she soared over with my head turning to watch. The
memory cut out the circling hover before she dropped
on me. In another sequence, with me calling her on
the left of a cascading stream, her line snagged on a
pile of fistsize stones. She circled around that
which cleared and then resumed her heading back to me.
Other shots were taken at the DongTai hotspring
complex. Tinkerbell had her carrier cage handle
ever she wanted to go back in for her privacy. Else
she hang around while we alternatively soaked.
The last few frames showed how she was taken back on
the train in the return trip.
With warmest regards
